While many artists are capable of creating buzz worthy music, Aasher’s incredible story telling and ability to form dynamic flows sets him apart from the masses. Born Asher Calvin-Peter Jones in 2001, the Washington DC-via-Charlotte artist began making music at four years old playing drums. By 14, his passion for hip-hop was born and the young musician set out to create genre bending music.
In 2020, with the world slowing down Aasher began to find himself within the music, studying his influences Nina Simone, Kendrick Lamar, Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Drake, and Tyler, The Creator.
It was during this time he was also able to focus on creating his first longer length project, ‘S.H.I.F.T,’ which was distributed through EMPIRE in 2022. Garnering exceptional reviews, the project did 171,000 streams within the first week with 22.8k Spotify listeners at the time. Landing on Apple Music’s Hip-Hop Top 200 Albums Chart at 198 at this time as well, Aasher headlined and sold out his first tour.
Such accolades garnered the attention of record labels, including the likes of Roc Nation & TDE. Since dropping his first project, Aasher has continued to headline tours, selling out of capacity. Now in 2023 Aasher has a great new project that’s ready to be released accompanied with a short film, music videos and a tour. The next step is to find partnership with a label to make that huge splash around the world.
